The newest hotel in the West End/Vanderbilt market is looking for Cooks. The Hayes Street Hotel is an independent limited service hotel focusing on connecting guests to the vibrancy and pure fun of modern Nashville. From vibrant spaces and quirky design touches to self-service programs and keyed-in local partnerships, the new Hayes Street Hotel provides an engaging home-base in Nashville for travelers that appreciate a dash of Southern spirit. An independent property that offers a fresh take on the city, and encourages guests to explore a new location through a local's lens, The Hayes Street Hotel provides all the needed creature comforts, along with a modern, spirited style of hospitality. Position will be available to begin 3/20/17.
Summary: The Cook is responsible for preparing all hot items for dinner, and handles preparation and rotation of all items received and served, while projecting The Hayes Street Hotel's high standards of service and professional hospitality at all times.
Responsible for station preparation list
Cooking of all menu items
Responsible for proper timing in coordination with wait staff
Responsible for sanitation and daily maintenance of work area
Shut down and clean kitchen line after each shift
Check daily for specials and assist of preparation
Make sure all garnishes are up to standards
Education and Experience:
1-2 years hands on operational experience in food service operations
Familiar in the operation of most kitchen equipment, general sanitation procedures, and overall basic knowledge of food handling procedures
Able to listen and communicate with fellow employees
Language Skills: Able to speak, read, write and understand the English language
Tools and Equipment: Black shoes with non-slip soles
Working Environment: We ensure a safe and secure work environment for all of our employees, while providing related job training on a continuous basis.
Physical Demands: Able to lift 50 lbs. and stand for eight hours
