Additional Information: This hotel is owned and operated by an independent franchisee, Interstate Hotels & Resorts . The franchisee controls all aspects of the hotel's employment policies and practices, including the selection and hiring process. If you accept a position at this hotel you will be employed by a franchisee and not by Marriott International.

As Convention Services Manager, you will

* Use your knowledge of the hotel's offerings and the competitive landscape to secure event and group business that meets or exceeds sales and revenue goals.

* Solicit, negotiate and book new and repeat clients using multiple channels, such as social media, outside calls, and telemarketing.

* Capture the client's vision and effectively convey the specifications to appropriate departments, rapidly responding to inquiries, concerns, and issues, ensuring an exceptional client experience and seeding future bookings.

* Keep management informed of activities through regular reporting.

* A four-year college degree is not required; however, more than two years post high school education with one to two years employment in a related position is required. Thorough knowledge of catering, food and beverage, and the hospitality industry is expected. You must possess effective verbal and written English communication skills. This position also requires an ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.

* Additional requirements for the position:

* Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned. Participate in committees as required.

* Communicate function requirements to appropriate areas in the hotel, resolve issues or problems to ensure quality product delivery and customer satisfaction.

Knowledge and Skills:

* Education: Four year college degree or equivalent.

* Experience: Two to three years of employment in related positions with this company or other hotel organization(s) having similar major accounts including catering and room sales.

Skills and Abilities:

* Requires through knowledge of the convention/catering, food & beverage and hospitality professions, practices and procedures in order to develop and manage large functions for major accounts.

* Requires knowledge of the Hotel and IHR's policies and procedures and the ability to determine course of action based on these guidelines.

* Requires skills needed to manage the people and variables encountered in the development and implementation of major functions.

* Must possess communication skills needed to negotiate, convince, sell and influence professionals and/or hotel guests.

* Knowledge of ISAC program a plus

* No. of employees supervised: No formal supervisory responsibility, but act as a team leader in providing advice, counsel, training and assistance to hotel department's contributions to the production of the function.

* Hours Required: Primarily daytime hours; some evenings; weekends and holidays required. Average of 47.5 hours over a 5-day period.
