Overview

As a Lead Retail Clerk you are responsible for providing superior service to both the internal and external customer. The incumbent is also responsible for greeting customers, cash register transactions, gift-wrapping, stocking sales floor, maintaining a clean working environment and assisting guests with their needs.

Responsibilities

(These functions are intended as a general illustration of the work performed in this job classification and are not all inclusive for this position)

* Provides superior guest service, positively effects interactions with guests and team members, and has the resiliency to deal with difficult guests in all types of business conditions and the ability to work harmoniously with coworkers.

* Facilitates Retail sales, including guest assistance and follow-up.

* Pre-shift team members and assist in ongoing training and development.

* Distributes shift work among Retail Clerks and assures the timely completion of work.

* Complete daily Leadership checklist and follow up on all email and phone inquiries throughout the day.

* Oversee the operations of the Retail department as Manager on Duty in the absence of Retail Supervisor.

* Operates cash register and handles money.

* Cleans and maintains the appearance of all merchandise and customer areas.

* Answers guest inquiries and tends to their requests.

* Completes monthly Retail Inventory and assists in lowering variance amount.

* Follows established procedures regarding merchandising.

* Ability to use the equipment associated with the position, including electronic cash register, 10-key adding machine, credit card machines, ticket machine, computer and keyboard.

* Ability to communicate effectively with customers and all levels of employees.

* Ability to review and comprehend all necessary documentation.

* Ability to inspect and maintain areas for which responsible, as well as ability to distinguish between different denominations of currency and make change.

* Ability to effectively and efficiently move around work area.

* This position requires physical mobility, including, but not limited to, lifting, carrying and pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds. These actions are required in order to clean, maintain and stock merchandise, as well as to perform gift-wrapping duties.

* This position operates in a working environment that is subject to varying levels of crowds, noise and smoke, the severity of which depends upon customer volume.

Qualifications

(Related education and experience may be interchangeable on a year for year basis)

* Basic math skills and 10-key experience preferred.

* Effective verbal communication and customer service skills.

* Prior money-handling experience helpful.

* Electronic cash register

* Computer and keyboard.

These skills and abilities are typically acquired through the completion of a high school degree or equivalent, as well as through two months of on-the-job training or equivalent experience.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: (Licenses, Certifications, Testing, etc.):

Possession of, and ability to obtain and maintain a valid drivers and gaming license within assigned state of employment and other jurisdictions

Must successfully pass background check

Must successfully pass an alcohol and drug screening

Must be 18 years of age
