EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Must be 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or a GED. Minimum 2 years previous bartending experience of which 1 or more years of lead or supervisory experience preferred. Must understand and have full knowledge of Michigan Liquor Control Commission Laws.
SUMMARY
The Bourbons 72 Bartender will open and close the Bourbons 72 lounge. They are responsible for mixing and serving drinks, serving bar menu food, and providing excellent guest service. The Bourbons 72 Bartender is responsible for training of new bartenders in Bourbons 72. They are required to keep accurate daily records of inventory, breakage sheets, and par lists. The Bourbons 72 Bartender's goal is to provide positive, professional, and courteous service in an exciting environment. The Bourbons 72 Bartender works closely with the Bourbons Manager to ensure proper wine, beer, and liquor pars are kept, take monthly inventories, and assist with Bourbons staff beverage training.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Perform all the operational and administrative duties as needed for the Bourbons 72 lounge
Train new staff with all beverage procedures and policies
Service guests within one minute of their arrival, using suggestively selling
Serve alcoholic beverages responsibly, and within legal guidelines
Have an excellent knowledge of all liquors, beer, and wine with an emphasis on Bourbon knowledge
Preparation, maintenance, and presentation of accurate guest checks
Prepare all customer drinks consistently with measured units following house recipes
Understand and know composition and preparation of bar food menu
Take bar menu food orders and serve using standards taught during food service training
Perform all side work duties, to include opening, operational, and closing duties, perform special cleaning duties as assigned by supervisors and management
Maintain guest areas and bar in a clean, sanitized, organized and presentable appearance
Communicate with Supervisors and Managers regarding shift activities, departmental issues, and product concerns
Keep informed on current casino and restaurant promotions, hours of operation, and changes to policy or procedure
Monitor the condition of the bar maintenance and repairs needed to all bar equipment and monitor par levels of supplies
Understand and follow standards and policies for all cash transactions
Verification of pre-shift Bar stock/readiness
Complete job related paperwork and reports
Ensure security of all locked doors and storage areas
Use TIPS training for verifying, monitoring, and intervention purposes
Verify photo identifications to uphold the prohibition of consumption of alcohol by a minor and comply with Michigan Liquor Control Commission Laws
Willingness to cross-train and provide support in related areas of operations
Other related duties as assigned

Must be able to handle stressful guest encounters and be able interact with individuals who may be intoxicated
Must be willing and able to be cross-trained to perform other front of the house duties when directed by management

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reinforcement of policies and procedures
Assist in the overseeing of departmental training procedures, daily operations
Perform in a supervisory role in the absence of the Supervisor
EQUIPMENT TO BE USED
Bartenders use the following equipment but are not limited to the following: Micros, calculator, BIB Soda System, Bag-in-box Beverage System, CO 2 and nitrogen tanks, blenders, automatic glass washer, Cruvinet wine dispenser, and beer taps etc.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS
May be required to lift up to 65 lbs.
Must be able to stand, sit and/or walk for entire shift
Must be able to reach, bend, stretch, kneel, crawl, lift and carry
Must have exceptional grooming habits, appearance, and manners
TYPICAL MENTAL DEMANDS
Must be able to effectively handle stressful and compromising situations
Must be able to work in a fast paced atmosphere, having the ability to interact with difficult people without losing perspective, all the while remaining focused, positive, and professional

WORKING CONDITIONS
Must be able and willing to work in a crowded, loud, environment, and work in a confined space if necessary
Must be able to work under constant surveillance
Must practice all safety policies, procedures and standards as set by OSHA and Health Dept.
Must be in work station at scheduled time and in appropriate clean and pressed uniform
Must be able to work days, evenings, weekends, holidays and special events as required by fluctuating business levels
Must be able to work flexible hours and to take on additional responsibilities when asked
COMMENTS
Native American and Tribal Preference will apply
Must be able to pass a background investigation and a drug urinalysis as a condition of employment
Must adhere to company policies regarding strict confidentiality
