Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Barista is to handle the preparation of beverages and the sale of beverages and merchandise in the retail stores. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian and The Palazzo Resort Hotel Casino's policies, practices, and procedures, and health department requirements. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

* Key Responsibilities

* Prepares and issues specialty gourmet coffee and tea beverages to order and brews coffee, tea, and chocolate, using coffee urns, drip or vacuum coffee makers, teapots, espresso machine, drink mixers, blenders and other kitchen equipment.

* May prepare and issue iced beverages, such as coffee, tea, and ice-blended drinks.

* Assist guests with retail purchases of packaged coffee and tea products, pastry items, coffee and espresso makers, logo souvenir items, bottled beverages, magazines, newspapers, sundries, candies and logo soft goods, and any other items offered for purchase at the Caf? Presse, receive payment for guest purchases and process sale in cash register system, proving change and receipts to guests.

* Tends machines that grind coffee beans to specified fineness. Works specialized equipment to prepare gourmet coffee selections.

* Pulls lever or adjusts control to regulate flow of coffee beans into grinding machines.

* Cleans and polishes utensils and equipment used in food and beverage preparation and all work areas.

* All duties must be performed in compliance with the Venetian Standards for Unmatched Guest Service, Retail Department policies and procedures and within the guidelines of the Clark County Health Department.

* Other duties as directed by management.

Minimum Qualifications:

* 18 years of age (21 in stores selling alcohol).

* Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States

* High school Diploma or equivalent.

* Ability to communicate effectively in a positive/upbeat fashion utilizing English, both in oral and written form.

* Have interpersonal skills with focused attention to guest needs to deal effectively with all business contacts.

* Maintain a professional, neat and well-groomed appearance adhering to Company appearance standards.

* Maintain consistent adherence to the Venetian and Palazzo Unmatched Guest Service Standards.

* Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.

* At least 6 months previous experience in gourmet coffee/tea beverage preparation and sales experience required and at least 1 year customer service experience.

* Knowledge of Micros a plus.

* Able to handle multiple guests and have excellent customer service skills.

* Working knowledge of preparation of gourmet coffee and tea beverages, stock keeping and store maintenance a must.

* Must be able to work independently.

* Must be able to work with others, communicate well, give direction, review the work of others, and provide guidance and counsel when needed to achieve department goals and objectives.

* Must maintain a positive attitude toward work and interface with hotel guests in a congenial and polite manner.

* Must be able to address stressful situations with clients with dignity and the utmost tact and politeness.

Physical Requirements:

* Physical ability to access all areas of the property.

* Must be able to withstand prolonged standing, stretching, bending and kneeling without restriction, work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to CRT fatigue, noise, dust, cigarette smoke.

* Must be able to work in a fast-paced, busy, and somewhat stressful environment and maintain physical stamina, proper mental attitude while dealing effectively with guests, management, team members, and outside contacts while working under pressure and meeting deadlines.

* Be able to work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to CRT fatigue, noise, dust, cigarette smoke, and be able to access all areas of the property.

* Ability to lift or carry a minimum of 20 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks assigned.

* Must be able to touch and handle supplies in a safe and non-hazardous manner, maintaining proper hygiene, cleanliness, and disposal methods.Posted by StartWire
