Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts is seeking to hire a Director of Business Development, Agency Sales to work as part of The Americas Sales team. The candidate must have a minimum of 7 years hotel sales experience preferably in a regional sales office.

PURPOSE / OBJECTIVE / SCOPE

Revenue Generation

  • Development and management of The Americas partnerships with specialty luxury travel organizations and travel consultants to ensure retail agency revenue goals are achieved
  • Further position Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts (SL) as a luxury competitor in the retail luxury travel marketplace
  • Ensure that all interactions with clients and our hotels are conducted in a professional manner while upholding the brand image and core values of the company
  • Achieve performance objectives as outlined within the department and understand the financial goals of the Regional Sales Office
  • Prepare annual Americas luxury retail agency sales business plan, internal production reports and Salesforce file maintenance

Sales Management

  • In accordance with the sales action plan, actively sell and promote all Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts to the travel industry
  • Solicit new and existing accounts via telephone, email solicitations, outsides sales calls
  • Organize FAM trips/site inspections to achieve or exceed revenue goals
  • Manage relationships with key luxury consortia partners in The Americas
  • With a call frequency and account rating established, create and maintain a Salesforce database
  • Assist and support the hotel property sales staff in their own selling efforts within The Americas by helping organize and coordinate sales visits
  • Assisting with planning and programming of promotional functions such as the USA Sales Mission, Client Appreciation Events and promotion specials from the hotel to the travel industry

Position Requirements

  • Attend trade shows, travel domestically and internationally and attend local functions to increase the exposure for Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts
  • Maintain and seek out new membership opportunities within luxury travel organizations to develop future business
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with airlines, DMCs, NTOs etc., within the region seeking opportunities for business promotions to the trade and consumers
  • Knowledgeable about GDS and agency booking channels
  • Seek out new and better ways to improve our efforts to stay ahead of the competition
  • Use all sources of potential lead information to prospect for new business
  • Assist other sales colleagues in the office with any client-related activities, promotions etc.
  • Communicate promotional opportunities, competitors' activities and general observations on market trends to global colleagues
  • Contribute to monthly and quarterly summary report
  • Create a positive working relationship among with internal and external colleagues and customers.

General /Administrative

  • Maintain account files and trace system for existing business
  • Prepare weekly, monthly and ad-hoc reports as required
  • Follow procedures and systems set-up for workload flow
  • Assist with yearly marketing report/budget as needed
  • Have a working knowledge of Salesforce, TravelClick Hotelligence360
  • Help train administrative staff
